Solar carport offsets carbon, provides second income stream

A new solar carport will help offset CO2 and provide a second income stream for one of CDI Energy’s commercial customers in Cockburn Lakes, south of Perth.

CDI Energy recently completed the fabrication and installation of a 100kW solar carport for a small retail strip.

The unique project took five months to complete, including the manufacture, design and installation of the solar panels.

The spacious carport is 4.8m high, allowing access for trucks. It is now operational and will provide customers to the small retail hub – and their cars – with shelter.

It will also provide the owner of the complex with a second source of revenue.

“The client will own the system and charge the tenants for the power,” Mr Bower explained.

“The new solar carport will also be beneficial for future customers as the client is looking to install an electric vehicle charger. This will enable the owner to produce their own power and sell it to EV owners who will then be able to charge their cars.”
