The Brief

Spoke was engaged to build East Fremantle Football Club’s (Sharks) media and digital profile as the Club entered a period of transition – triggered by the Club’s relocation to the WACA while its home ground New Choice Homes Park underwent a two-year redevelopment.

Building brand and awareness among past and present members, sponsors, WAFL fans and the wider community was a key part of the brief, as well as scouting commercial and seeking out general profile-raising opportunities.

Leveraging the WACA collaboration was also an important component of the program with a focus on the Club’s increasing community activity, particularly while its home turf was based north of the river.

Our Approach

  • Spoke deployed a team of three media and communications experts to deliver the program, including regular attendance at training sessions, game days and club events
  • Applied our expertise in creative and commercial strategy to develop multifaceted media and public relations campaigns suitable for various applications
  • Engaged key EFFC stakeholders and our extensive media contacts to deliver targeted media campaigns communicating the Club’s milestones and announcements
  • Created and published professional and meaningful content including photography and videography to bolster EFFC’s communications channels and generate further engagement
  • Enhanced social media presence across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter

  • State-wide media coverage secured for multiple stories across print, broadcast and digital mediums with a potential combined audience reach of 7.2 million
  • Key media outlets covering EFFC news included Channel Ten, Channel Seven, GWN7, 6PR, ABC Perth, ABC Wheatbelt and Mid West, The West Australian, Geraldton Guardian and Fremantle Herald
  • Proven social media profile growth and increased engagement through significantly expanding and diversifying Club content quality and frequency
  • Helped grow club membership, draw greater attention to sponsor support and develop a stronger footprint in north-of-the-river communities
  • Facilitated local coverage for community-focussed story on A-Team game and donations raised for TBC1D24 charity
